The Syrian Legal Development Programme is seeking a Communications & Outreach Officer for the Human Rights and Business Unit. This position will be primarily responsible for communicating with international organizations, State actors, humanitarian actors, businesses and financial actors, and Syrian civil society about business and human rights issues in Syria’s reconstruction and in business activity in Syria in general. This position will also be primarily responsible for monitoring and documentation of business-related activity in Syria that may contribute to human rights violations or war crimes.
The applicant is expected to begin December 1, 2018 and will preferably be based in Lebanon, Turkey, Jordan or the UK.. The work will be home based.
Duration: The contract duration is 6 months, with the possibility of an extension.
Salary: £2000 PCM

Qualifications
Ability to work with a team in a remote environment
One year-experience in a communications or related position, preferably with an NGO
Proficiency in English and Arabic language required
Experience networking and communicating with NGOs, businesses, or humanitarian or state actors
University degree or equivalent from a recognized institution
Excellent written and oral communication skills, conveying messages to different audiences using diverse media
Experience monitoring and documenting

Monitor and document business related activities in Syria that may result in human rights violations or international crimes through scanning media sources as well as through communicating with internal actors in Syria
Reach out to business and human rights stakeholders such as businesses interested in reconstruction in Syria, Syrian civil society in and outside Syria, humanitarian and aid actors, and other financial actors operating in Syria or contributing to early recovery, humanitarian aid provision, or reconstruction in Syria
Proactively maintain and update HRBU website with news relating to business and human rights or reconstruction in Syria
Draft and publish news releases on HRBU operations and activities and share with SLDP listserv
Manage SLDP social media pages including twitter and Facebook
